[Premium DIY] Felt pencil pouch

If you want to create something that is both functional and pretty, this pencil pouch is the way to go. Since it is so easy to make, you could even make matching sets for you and your friends or have your children make ones that represent each of their own unique individual styles. So here is how to make a felt pencil pouch.

What you will need:

  • Felt of your color of choice
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Yarn and needle (optional)

Step 1:

Cut a long 3” thick strip from the felt. If you want the pouch to hold more pencils, feel free to make it wider.

The length of the strip should be around 2.5 times the length of the pencil or pen that you want the pouch to hold.

Step 2:

Make two folds that divide the felt strip into 3 parts. The middle portion should be the height you want the pencil pouch to be. One side portion should be a bit smaller than the total height and the other side portion should be a bit smaller than half of the height.

Step 3:

Take the hot glue gun and glue the open sides of the longer portions together. Just make sure not to glue the end since that will shut the opening.

Step 4: (optional)

If you want to secure the pouch even more, stitch around the sides, over the glued portion. But be careful to allow the glue to dry before you start this step.

Step 5:

For the last step, trim the sides of the shorter portion so that it can easily fit inside the “pocket” created by the other two portions. You could also round its edges for a more elegant look.

Alternatively, you could also cut a buttonhole on this portion and sew a button to the opposite part.
