Ah, macrame, the décor element that’s taking over all the home accessories. It might look a bit overwhelming and trying to make it might seem like an even more complicated process. But worry not, this craft will show you how to create a macrame hanging in a remarkably simple way that won’t stress you at all!
What you will need:
- Thick rope
- A wooden stick or branch
Take the thick rope and cut into strands that are a bit longer than twice the length of the actual length you want the hanging to be.
Fold each of the strands in half and pull the end through the loop created by the folded portion, keeping the wooden stick or branch in between.
Repeat step 2 with all the strands of rope until the width of the stick is covered.
Tie knots with the two parts, along different positions for different strands, to form a “v” like shape for with the knots. Start along the top.
Repeat step 4 but this time, make the knots along the bottom of the strings, also forming a v shaped pattern.
Cut each of the strings an inch below the lower knot to form a final v shape.
To make the hanger, cut another piece of rope and tie its ends around the ends of the stick.
Now you have a macrame hanging of your own! Can you believe how something so simple can have the looks of something so elegant? Have fun making different variations of this and putting them up all around the house!
