[DIY] Milk jug sandwich bags

Milk jugs, due to their shape and size, might seem like difficult things to recycle or reuse in a pretty matter but there are definitely ways to get around it. One such example is this craft project. From just a milk jug and a few other simple items, a reusable, washable and customized sandwich bag can be made. This is also a great option because it saves you from using single use plastic bags as sandwich bags.

What you will need:

  • An empty milk jug
  • Scissors or precision knife
  • Marker
  • Thin ribbon
  • Button

Step 1:

Mark the milk jug as shown in the picture. Make sure one of the ‘flaps’ is longer than the others.

Step 2:

Using the scissors or the precision knife, cut the milk jug along the marked line.

Step 3:

Hold the longer flap close to the shorter flap for a short time to give the bag its shape.

Step 4:

Make one hole near the edge of the longer flap and one near the edge of the shorter flap that is opposite to the longer one.

Step 5:

To the hole made on the top flap, tie a piece of the ribbon to make a loop. Make sure the loop is large enough  to fit the button through it but not too big that the button might slip out.

Step 6:

Using the thread tie the button to the hole made in the shorter flap.

Tie the button through the ribbon and you’re done! Feel free to decorate the bag however you like as long as it is washable.
