Dreamcatchers are one of those cute decor elements that can make any room look adorable. While they can be bought easily, making your own dreamcatchers with personal touches are sure to be more unique and precious.
This craft is also great to do if there is an old embroidery hoop lying around and you want to put it to good use.
What you will need
- Small embroidery hoop
Take the embroidery hoop and detach the two parts from each other. We will only be using the inner hoop to make the dreamcatcher.
Take the yarn and wrap around the smaller hoop with it. Once completely covered, cut the yarn and glue the end in place with glue.
Using the yarn, create crisscrossing designs on the inside of the hoop. Feel free to make it as simple or as detailed as possible.
One way to create these designs is by forming small loops that go in and out of the hoop and then making more loops that go through those first loops.
For an added effect you could try threading beads through the yarn during different parts of the design.
Once the design on the inside is done, it’s time to create the bottom strings. To create the strings, you can either tie the feathers together or thread beads through a piece of yarn or even do a mixture of both!
Tie the strings to one side of the covered hoop.
Make a loop using the yarn and tie it to the other side of the hoop.
And there you have it! A dreamcatcher that you made yourself with all the customizations you could even need. And in the process, you also recycled an embroidery hoop that was no longer used!
