Plastic bottles are one of those items that cause a lot of waste and so it’s always helpful to find new ways to reuse them. Typically, the plastic bottles are reused as various types of planters. While the planters are very useful, for this craft we’ll be looking at something a bit more different, which are pouches!
Here is what you will need:
- Two plastic bottles
- A zipper
- Hot glue gun
Cut the two bottles into equal halves or cut one bottle to be longer than the other. We will be using the bottom parts of the bottles only. In either case make sure that the combined height of the two halves is not more than the height of the actual bottle.
Wrap the zipper around the open part of the bottle to measure the circumference and make a mark there. Cut the zipper to a size that is one inch larger than the marked point. Make sure to cut it at the open end and not at the closed end.
Using the glue gun, glue each side of the zipper to the insides of the open edges of each of the cut-up bottles.
Make sure to glue both the ends of the zipper onto each other to form a closed loop.
Close the zipper and it is done! Now you have a pouch made out of only two plastic bottle that took you less than ten minutes to make. Use it to store markers, pencils, brushes, and everything in between. If you’re feeling extra creative, feel free to decorate the bottles as you wish with paint, markers, glitter or even beads!
